Dr. Andrew D. Hottle Biography


Dr. Andrew D. Hottle is Professor of Art History at Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey. His research focuses exclusively on the history of women artists, with particular emphasis on feminist art of the 1970s. His recent publications include The Art of the Sister Chapel: Exemplary Women, Visionary Creators, and Feminist Collaboration (Routledge, 2014), an extensive study of a major installation by thirteen women artists of the 1970s, and a detailed monograph entitled Shirley Gorelick (1924-2000): Painter of Humanist Realism (Cambridge Scholars Publishing, 2014). He has also written essays on the work of Sylvia Sleigh, Martha Nilsson Edelheit, June Blum, and the Feminist Art Workers. He is currently writing an in-depth monograph on the art of Sylvia Sleigh and preparing the catalogue raisonné of her paintings. Dr. Hottle will provide a certificate of authenticity for each work of art in the Sylvia Sleigh Endowment to Parity Productions.
